The Walk Itself
I have never been a huge Disney fan. So when I was in Anaheim to attend some continuing medical education events, I wondered if I would be able to create an urban camino around Disneyland that would be fun to walk while my family visited the amusement park. Unfortunately, while I was able to find a couple of gems of places to visit around the park, it felt like the most concrete, commercial UC ever created!
So I scratched the original idea and started researching fun areas to walk in Anaheim. This is how I stumbled on a Reddit post by Lunacavemoth, a native of Anaheim who had moved away a couple of years ago. This UC is based on his recommendations for a historic walk through the original Anaheim City limits with some modern twists.
Distance as Presence
This walking route is approximately 4.6 miles roundtrip.
Mindful Reflections
Stand at any street corner in the original boundaries and know that you are always at an intersection of time. Every place holds its past while becoming its future. You are the present, briefly passing through.
The Journey Unfolds

Start at the Anaheim Central Library and walk down W Broadway slowly heading towards Anaheim Founders' Park. Enjoy a view
of historic Anaheim High School and cute Anaheim cottages along
the way.

Consider stopping by Panaderia La Pequeña to taste some traditional Mexican bakery favorites.

View multiple historic homes and ponder the size of the 149 year old Moreton Bay Fig tree in Founders' Park.

Trek between Pearson Park's Victorian elegance to George Washington Park's practical green.

Enjoy historic details preserved in wood siding, original windows, and front porches while walking through the

Peer at the Old Anaheim Railroad Station, a stunning example of a Union Pacific station built in 1923. They moved the station 600 feet
south from its original location in 1991 when improvements were
made to Lincoln Boulevard downtown.

Meander through Friendship Plaza featuring Mito Square, named in tribute to Anaheim's Sister City, Mito, Japan. Comparable in size and
population, Mito and Anaheim were both tourist-oriented towns with
major theme parks within city limits when they became sister cities in
1976.

Explore the Anaheim Packing District for a modern twist on century-old brick and beams before heading to shop at the
W Center Street Promenade with its new concrete and planted
palms. Try some unique Japanese baked goods at

End your walk checking out the diverse exhibits at the Muzeo Musuem and Cultural Center and the local history artifacts and
special exhibitions at the Carnegie Library (1908 building).
